The Road is Closed. But is it really?

We’ll leave that up to you to decide. Just know that this bike can take you wherever you decide to go. Whether it’s for a couple of hours of exploring your local park or a couple of weeks of bikepacking on the TransVirginia trail, the Piolet is the way to go.

We’ve built this bike around a steel off road touring frame from our friends at Velo Orange and a selection of handpicked parts that’ll make it ready for your next adventure.

  • It’s running on a set of 29” Velocity Blunt SS wheels set up tubeless and wrapped with 29 x 2.2” tires from Rene Herse. They’ll roll well on gravel and keep you stuck to the trail on the single-track sections. Even though we’re running 2.2 tires here, you can go as big as 2.4 on this frame.

  • The Shutter Precision dynamo hub will give you the option to power lights or recharge your phone or gps.

  • The drivetrain is a simple and reliable 1x10 system featuring Microshift Advent X and a Wolftooth chainring up front and an 11-48 cassette in the back.

  • The Spank Oozy pedals add an extra bit of color to your ride. Even when the bike is fully loaded you won’t having any problem managing your speed on the steepest of descents thanks to the Yokozuna Motoko mechanically actuated hydraulic brakes. You’ll get the reliability of cable actuated brakes with the extra stopping power of hydraulics. It’s really the best of both worlds.

  • Surly says this about their Moloko handlebars “If variety is the spice of life the Moloko bar oozes unami at every band”. We’ve no idea what that means but we really like these bars. They blend a traditional mountain bar with a couple of extra integrated hand positions to make this one super comfortable for long days in the saddle.

  • There’s also a really cool utility bag that nests right inside the arc of the bars. And speaking of saddles, this build includes the old reliable Brooks Cambium C17.

  • If you like the comfort of a well-worn Brooks leather saddle but don’t want to bother with break-in time or any extra maintenance, the C17 is a fantastic alternative.

This one is ready to go whenever you are. If you’re in the market for a custom build, drop us a line.
